Obviously our children come with their own predispositions, but we have a tremendous impact on them. What I’ve learned through my years as a mom is that they learn more from what we do than from what we say. Like if I tell my children to put their iPhones down and be really present and I don’t do it myself, they’re going to model me rather than listening to what I say. If I tell them about the importance of giving, but I don’t give, they’re going to model that. So in every area, I think our children are just like little sponges. They absorb everything from a very, very early age. So for me, it starts with the behavior we model. And not to make us feel guilty, because God knows, nobody’s perfect. But to remember that during our years of parenting.
