Well child visits are an opportunity to look at a few different things that are going on with your child. We not only make sure they are normal on a physical realm, but that they are growing well and they are developing appropriately. Milestones that we look for to make sure that your child is achieving them and meeting certain growth expectation; meaning linear, the height, weight, and head circumference. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that that you been seen at two, four, six, twelve and eighteen months of age. In my practice, I think we can do better. We see our patients monthly until nine months of age, and then we see them every three months until two years of age. I do that because I believe that early intervention really makes the difference for children. I think if we can recognize shortcomings earlier, then we can help children truly live up to their potential.
