Since we've had our triplets, we've had numerous visitors come. Especially in the beginning, it's hard to say "no." Other parents have told me, when someone offers help, take it. The problem, when they are very little and just coming back from the hospital, is that they are susceptible to getting sick again. You have to set some guidelines, like you can't come over if you are sick or anyone in your family has been sick in the last week. You have to wash your hands before you pick them up. Sometimes it feels uncomfortable telling people this because you think that they should know better, but they just don't. If you have a family website or a baby website, you can post on your website. One of the mother's that I interviewed actually had her husband put a sign on the door. It simply said, "These are the rules in coming through this door. If you can pass all of these, one through ten, then come on in and help out." Expect to help. If we are napping, expect to leave.
