I feel that children in elementary school, if given homework, should be given meaningful homework. Most homework that is given is very tedious and meaningless. If the child doesn’t understand it while they’re in school, they’re not going to understand it doing 50 of the same math problems. It actually will make them more resistant to doing it again at school, to shut them down. Instead more meaningful homework would be, “Go home and talk to your parents about their lives in South Korea or their experience in the army. Go home, play a game of Scrabble with your family and keep score and add up the scores at the end to see who wins. Go home and teach your parent how to play this video game. Share you knowledge with them.” So homework should be productive and positive.
