Bleeding in pregnancy is extremely common. Upwards of 50 percent of all people have some bleeding and usually, it is not too significant. If somebody has bleeding that is not more than spotting, I usually recommend that people take it easy that day, get off their feet, don't exercise, don't have intercourse. If they haven't seen their physician in some time, make sure that they get seen in the next day or two. If someone is farther along in pregnancy, it might be a sign that the cervix is starting to change. Labor might be coming soon, and it might be appropriate that someone is checked sooner rather than later. If there is a question, the best thing to do is call their provider.
