An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy that occurs anywhere outside the uterus.
Almost always, it is in the fallopian tubes. The incidents of ectopic pregnancy is approximately one percent. With modern day techniques, we can usually diagnose it quite early, before they rupture and before they can become dangerous to the mother.
It is not possible to salvage an ectopic pregnancy. Usually, we can treat them with a medication called Methotrexate that dissolves them before the crisis happens.
