Back labor is when you have a pain in labor that's usually felt in the lower back rather than in front of the stomach. It's very common in labor to have this; you really can't prevent this. Some back labor's caused by the baby looking the wrong way. The baby's born with the face looking up, or sun side up, versus looking down. To prevent it, really you can't do much about it. But you can help it by epidural of course, pain medication, massage, warm shower, and just walking and rocking, those kind of things.
