Some of nanny safety tips are that your nanny should certainly have a cell phone on them all the time to be able to contact you even in emergency or even just to call 911 if necessary. Additionally, they should also have an actual paper map in their stroller, in the diaper bag of your neighborhood. Your nanny may be new in the family. They may not know the neighborhood that you live in. It’s important that you may even want to highlight the perimeter of how far you want them to be able to go when they go out to parks and things but then also to be able to show them where a hospital is and related to where your home is. I really would encourage you to have your nanny trained in car seat installation. Installing a car seat can be really tricky as most parents know and if you're not properly trained in that you're going to install improperly and then there’s no use of having a car seat if it’s not going to work and save your child’s life. Additionally, you should have your nanny trained in CPR and First Aid. These are classes that they can take through the American Red Cross or locally at some parent resource center where they can easily be quickly trained in even infant CPR and First Aid which is really important as well. It’s really important, if there’s an emergency, that your nanny would be able to consent to medical care for your child. I always recommend that your nanny carries a copy of your child’s insurance card along with a consent that they're able to consent to emergency medical care and both parents should sign that form. These forms are available online or even just a letter will do, just giving permission, for that. Also, the diaper bag, in the car, in the stroller, there should be First Aid kits everywhere. Just little ones that you can sort of put everywhere just in case anything happens so that your nanny is always prepared to do her job and take care of your child.
