The definition of a nanny, traditionally, includes all things child. Taking care of everything relating to the children. The children's laundry, activities, nutrition, actual care of the child. An au pair is a person who comes from another country, it might be their first time out of the country. They are required to have a certain number of hours available to them to go to school, while they are working as your nanny. They live in and you are able to get information about them before you hire them. Then there is a trial period where you can decide if you want to keep them long term. You usually keep them for a year and then you get a new au pair the following year. As far as a housekeeper goes, housekeeper is somebody who does just that, they keep the house. They are the ones who are doing all of the cleaning and anything with chemicals, bathroom, kitchen, everything. Then there are nanny housekeepers. Those are the ones who do the housekeeping and the childcare and they balance it. They will be responsible for taking care of the children. While the children are napping or whatever, they will clean the bathroom. They share the responsibility.
