Positive proactive speech are the words that we use, where we can be, instead of pessimistic, we can be optimistic. Instead of negative, we can be positive. This turns language from, "I can't do it," to, "I can do it."
When parents start role modeling positive proactive speech in early childhood, they will start listening to that. They will then internalize that message. That message then becomes their own inner speech and self-talk that is positive instead of negative. What will end up happening for them as they grow, and they get to middle school and high school, they will be able to know that they have the confidence to get out of any unsafe situation.
They can take any kind of party and say, "No, I can't do that. I won't do that. That's not for me." Their positive inner speech is going to change the way many of us know, our own self-talk.
