Often children have difficulty learning to say all the sounds, and one of the sounds that is very common is the lisp, which sounds very cute usually on a four-year old. Often the lisp can be a developmental era an will go away in time. But not all articulation eras, such as a lisp, are developmental. And it is very important to see a speech and language pathologist and have a full articulation assessment to find out if your child's articulation era, whether it's a W, an R, an L, or an S is truly developmental or is an articulation era that's going to need some support. By the time a child enters kindergarten, we would like there to be no articulation eras, because articulation eras can cause difficulties when a child is learning to read and write, as they will hear an incorrect sound if they're making an incorrect sound.
