Bilingualism, by itself, does not cause speech delay problems. Some parents might be concerned because when their child starts speaking, they might have less words in each language. That's normal. That's actually part of the child that has been absorbing more than two languages since they were born. Actually, your doctor can help you with this, but what happens is that a child will actually divide the amount of words that they are supposed to know by a certain language. So, let's say that by age two, they are supposed to know 50 words. If they know 25 in English and 25 in Spanish, they are exactly where they need to be.
