Tattoos and piercings are a very big part of today's culture. Everyone has them and everywhere the kids look, they see them. I have tattoos so my kids come to me and say, "Well dad, if you have tattoo that means I can get a tattoo." What I tell them is, "Sure, you're right, just like me. As soon as you finish Law school, you have a successful law practice and win your first case, like I waited for, I'll pay for the tattoo. But until then, you should wait." I point out that whatever's important to them at 18 years old, is probably not going to be important to them at 28 years old. It's easy to go around and point out dumb tattoos that embarrass the person that got them. So I discourage any kind of tattoos for as long as possible until they're more mature to know the significance of having something on their skin for the rest of their life. Don't do anything now that's going to prevent you from getting a job or having a job opportunity later in life.
