It's important that parents talk about their daughter's emerging sexuality with them openly and honestly. If you don't talk about it, your daughter may get the idea that there is something bad or shameful about her sexuality. She likely has a lot of questions. Don't feel like you have to have all the answers. If your daughter comes to you and you don't have all the answers, you can look them up together. Get a book and you can discuss what you guys are reading in the book together, or she can read the book on her own and bring her questions to you. There is a special note for dads. I want dads to know that their daughters want to know that they will still love them after their bodies change and after they start having sexual feelings. Dads are the very best people to teach daughters about how to have difficult conversations about their sexuality and their bodies; so that if they do choose to date men or boys, they know how to do that. They will be more comfortable in having those conversations.
