Technology's effect on your child's communication skills

One of the things that we have to watch out with technology and communication with kids is that it can keep them from being as elaborate and being as rich in their communication. These short bursts of communication, sometimes, they miss the meaning. They miss the context of things. In fact, a lot of things get miscontrued when communicating things that are emotional. It's breaking down empathy because when we are trying to connect with a person, we read their body language and their facial cues. When most of our communication or all of our communication is through technology, we find that there is a breakdown in that empathy. We need to make sure that there is a balance between technology and communication, and live communication.
