Most of us want our child to be a loving person, an affectionate person and also have safe personal boundaries. So they are not liable to be victims of abuse. One of the great reasons to do that is to respect the child's personal boundaries in infancy. The first few years are so important everything, every interaction that we have with our children in these first years when they are learning more than they ever will again becomes a lesson for them. If we pick up our baby and pass them around to all the relatives. Everybody gets a hug. This baby is learning that I just belong to everybody. I am just this love object. Sometimes they will run up to their friends and just hug them and kiss them because they are confused about boundaries. So we want to make it very clear to our children right from the very beginning. You know that you deserve to be alerted and even asked when you are old enough to respond yes or no if you want to be picked up, if you are ready to be picked up. If you want a hug or a kiss. We need to ask our relatives to and friends. These boundaries need to be respected right from the beginning.
