It's so hard, in this day and age, to trust yourself because the media, parents, everyone is giving you advice everywhere you go. Even in the grocery market, someone has a word of wisdom for you. You start to think that maybe you need all this advice.
What I tell people is, you know your child best. Trust yourself. I learned that one night when my child was really sick. My husband, who is a doctor, of course, was like, "He's fine. He's fine." It was me who took him to the Emergency Room and he wasn't fine. It was that moment, it became crystal clear to me, I know my child best. Even better than my husband.
From that moment on, self-trust, mother's instinct -- call it what you want -- is the most important thing in raising my children.
