I laugh every time someone says to me, "Rabbi, you must know the secret to parenting. You must have overcome everything." I haven't overcome anything. Every time I think I've got it, guess what? My kids throw me another curve ball. But there is one thing I think my husband and I are doing a lot better, and I think this goes a lot to him. I think we're working better as a team. One, I think it's from practice. Two, I think our kids are coaching us, because the more difficult they are, the more team-like we have to become. And third, I trust him more. The longer we're together, I realize, he makes really good decisions, and I don't always have to be right, and so I defer to him, and that's what I think is really giving my children a little bit of strength, and I think maybe me, too.
