So this was what was really hard for us, especially for my husband. Our son turned out totally different than he expected. When he was born, he installed this state-of-the-art basketball court, thinking that our son would become just like him, a college basketball star. Except my son's not interested. He's never been interested. The most that basketball court's been used for is a fashion runway for my daughter. So first my husband had to grieve that loss. That dream of what his son was going to be. And it was painful. But after he came through that grief, he came to see that our son is going to be different than he expected, but that he may be better. And that he would come to appreciate him for who he is and what he is, and it seems that they have a better relationship because of it.
