Planning Your Wedding When You Have Kids

wedding with kids

There are more than 2 million weddings every year in America, and every single one is different. The idea of a dream wedding is different for each couple. When you have children, it may be that your wedding plans don’t just involve the two of you, but also your children. Many weddings aren’t just about tying the knot between two people; they are also about uniting a family. Getting your children involved in your big day is a wonderful way of celebrating together, and you can have the wedding you’ve always dreamed of.

Babies and toddlers

When you have babies and toddlers, it would help to hire an allocated babysitter for your wedding day. This would mean that when it comes to the important parts of your wedding, such as the actual ceremony, the speeches and the first dance, you will have a professional looking after your little one, and you can concentrate on having a wonderful time. Although toddlers make very cute flower girls and page boys, they get tired easily, so having a wedding babysitter means that you can relax, enjoy your big day, and not worry about sleeping and feeding schedules.

The younger guests

There are some lovely roles for younger children at weddings that they will enjoy, however. A very important one is ring bearer - this important job dates right back to Ancient Egypt, where jewelry was placed on ceremonial cushions at weddings. Younger guests may also enjoy being flower girls and boys, scattering rose petals in front of the bride as she walks up the aisle. Junior bridesmaids and groomsmen are also very important wedding roles that younger guests will enjoy. You can get some wonderful photos all together celebrating your big day that you will treasure for a lifetime.

Teenage guests

If you have teenage children, they may be proud to take an active role in your wedding, perhaps doing a reading in the ceremony, or taking on an important job, such as groomsman, or even maid of honor or best man. This will help them to really feel involved and responsible for a special part of your big day. You can even go shopping together and make some big decisions, such as wedding party outfits, bridesmaid dresses and suits. They might enjoy helping you to test some wedding cakes or decide on items for a buffet too. Having your teenage children involved can really bring you closer together.

When you have children, it can make your wedding extra special to involve them in your big day. They can take an active role and make your dream wedding a day to remember.
