Cord blood is stored in cryogenic long term storage tanks. These are large stainless steel tanks that typically utilize liquid nitrogen to maintain temperatures of approximately negative 196 degrees . At this extremely low temperature, cellular activity stops, therefore your stem cells should be good for indefinite period of time. That being said, there have been treatments with cord blood stem cells that had been in cryogenic storage for more than 25 years. When we recommend for storage many companies would recommend up to 25-30 years of storage because that's the proven period of time for storage.
