They say that 90 percent of communication is non-verbal. That means our tone of voice and our gestures are actually speaking louder than our words. This cannot be more true when we are talking to kids. We forget that the world looks so vastly different for them than it does for us. The words that we use, same thing, they don't hear them in the same way. In many cases, they don't even necessarily understand them. So it's important that we realize that the tone of voice that we use with our kids is often speaking louder than our words are.
