When kids play doctor

Lots of parents worry about their kids playing doctor and looking at and exploring each other's private parts. The time to worry is when the behavior is sexualized. Most of the time, when kids explore each other's body and they play doctor, they are good friends, they mutually agree to play the game, they've been playing another game and it happens spontaneously. They are playing family and suddenly somebody needs to go to the doctor, and the next thing you know, Johnny is checking out Jimmy's penis. This is very common in early childhood. It's part of their sexual development. When you worry is when the game is aggressive, the play is not mutual, when the children's behavior is very sexualized, very adult-like.
