Transcription:
Most teenagers in America have sex for the first time, have sexual intercourse at about age 17. So it differs by socioeconomic class and race and ethnicity and that sort of thing. But generally speaking, sex, intercourse at 17. Kids engage in sexual activity, however, starting usually at about 13 or so. And if you think about your own growing up and when you were in high school, and when kids started making out and having boyfriends and getting seriously sexually active, it was usually about then. By the time kids are age 13 - 16 they really start to develop their sexual muscles, so they are fooling around, they are making out with their boyfriends, or in some cases with people they don't know well at all. So it's important for your kids to know this and to know it's typical and common, and for you as a parent to know what to expect in terms of your kid's sexual activity.

She decided to combine her love of sex talking and her love of working with adults and started Birds + Bees + Kids in 2006.

Amy is a three time Mom’s Choice Award winner for her book, Birds + Bees + YOUR Kids - A Guide To Sharing Your Beliefs About Sexuality, Love and Relationships and DVD, Birds + Bees + Kids - The Basics.
