You really cannot tell by looking if your child is gay. Kids exhibit all different kids of behaviors, especially young kids regarding gender. So we all know that little three year old boy who loves pink and sparkles. And that just means he loves pink and sparkles. Kids´ gender is very fluid until they are about six or seven, so they experiment with what does it mean to be a boy, what does it mean to be a girl. Some boys like girl stuff. Some girls like boy stuff. So if your kid´s gender is not very clear by six or seven, you might want to talk to a professional about gender identification. This is a great time to have a kid who is a gender bender because there is tons of help and support for those kinds of families.

Despite her 16 years of experience as a sexual health educator, Amy Lang found herself completely tongue-tied when her four year old son had "something very important" to tell her about his penis. She decided to combine her love of sex talking and her love of working with adults and started Birds + Bees + Kids in 2006.

Amy is a three time Mom’s Choice Award winner for her book, Birds + Bees + YOUR Kids - A Guide To Sharing Your Beliefs About Sexuality, Love and Relationships and DVD, Birds + Bees + Kids - The Basics.
