Reggio Emilia is a philosophy developed in a small town in Italy called Reggio Emilia.
It was started by the community there, the parents and the teachers, who got together and said, "Children will learn from their own devices, their own interests." It's a developmental approach to education, especially in preschools.
Often, in a Reggio Emilia school, you will see parents and teachers documenting what is going on. They will be writing, using video, photos. They use this documentation to learn. It is considered a learning environment for teachers, children, and parents.
To add to that, you will often see a lot of parent participation. The main thing you need to know is that it a developmental approach to teaching children. Children learn at their own rates and the curriculum is driven by their interests.
