Transcription:
A language processing disorder is when somebody demonstrates difficulties attaching meaning to language based information. That can occur on several levels. In younger children, it can mean they have a hard time with vocabulary or concept development. For instance, anything on wheels is a car, whether it's a truck, a van, a bus; it's a car. That would be an example, at a lower level, of language processing. At a higher level of processing, when you're talking about a Fourth Grader or a Fifth Grader, they have to start thinking in more abstract terms. As we add complexities to sentence structure or to language. They have to be able to infer what that means. On a higher level, you have to add more meaning to what you are hearing so it becomes more abstract. When a Fourth or Fifth Grader, it's going to look like, "I'm not understanding what I'm reading. It's too abstract."
