Adult twins who have successful intimate relationships apart from their twin, have really carved out opportunities for themselves to be out on their own. Whether it's attending different colleges, moving to a different city, or having a different profession. Twins who have sought out experiences where they are known for their own individual strengths, talents, and personalities; are very successful in being able to appreciate their twinship. Twins have to work very, very hard to maintain a healthy balance between connection and separation. I interviewed this twin and she told me something very, very poignant. She said, "My twinship has taken me to extremes of feelings; from being immensely rewarded, to extremely frustrated, from being lost and lonely in my identity, to being happy in secure in the memory of having a built-in friend."
