Chinese medicine is well-suited for conditions like allergies because what we are talking about is the immune system being overwhelmed, not being able to deal with foreign particles. The particles can come into the body through the air, such as pollen or dust mites; or dander, dogs and cats; food particles, we talk about dairy, wheat, gluten, nuts and seeds. Those are common things that people react to. Acupuncture is excellent for modulating the immune functions. In other words, when the immune system is super, you know, hyper functioning, way over board, it can calm it down. If the immune system is inadequate, meaning they can't resist a cold and get sick all of the time, acupuncture helps that. It's a really wonderful balancing technique to try and help the body get better. There are also various herbs you can try and eliminating diet, initially. Later on, we add those foods back in that they had a reaction to. Now, they are fine and don't react to it anymore. So often, we can bring this allergy condition to a level where its not affecting them in their life and they can go back to eating the food or in the environment.
