In our practice, we see kids as young as three-months old. Now you might ask me, "So what kind of condition do you see for kids three-months old?" Well, at three months, many kids unfortunately suffer from reflux. So they don't even keep their milk down. Every time they feed, they just spit it back up. That's a big problem. So the traditional way of dealing with that is giving them acid blockers to keep their stomach from refluxing up. In this case, we treat using acupuncture to relax the diaphragm, relax the stomach so we stop this reflux mechanism and that we can begin to help them regulate their digestive tract. Because if they have a reflux problem, they usually have a bowel problem too, whether it's too fast or too slow. So diarrhea and constipation can be the result of that. So acupuncture's wonderful to regulate the whole digestive tract and therefore no need for acid blocker because the acid blocker can contribute to malnourishment and malabsorption, particularly of calcium. And so we very much promote the use of natural medicine as much as possible for children, to help, especially in this case, the digestive tract. But they can get acupuncture as early as three months, in my opinion, because it's perfectly safe and very, very effective for specific conditions.
