When we want to help kids solve their own problems, it is a great resource to use imaginary guides. And the first type because they are so much fun are animal friends. And animal friends are wise, loving creatures and protectors that have your best interest at heart. And you could turn to an animal friend to ease your suffering although they do not always take away your pain. Like one little boy who was terrified of a hospital procedure. He had a pride of lions surrounding his bed to help him feel safe and be brave while they had to do the procedure. Now sometimes animal friends are not enough because they are on vacation or they are sleeping or whatever. And so, we call in wizards. We call in magic. And wizards are kind of like mentors but magical mentors in human form. And for older kids, you might use an older, wiser person but with Harry Potter, wizards are so popular. And so the wizard gives you information and helps you find your answers. Like one boy who was terrified of going to sleep, he felt that there were all these possible, terrible things that could happen even though he was really, really safe. But his wizard brought him a big, wonderful, white dragon to protect him, Valcor, around his bed and gave him a sleeping potion to help him sleep more easily. So he felt safe. And what happens when you use these inner guides is it helps kids trust themselves and develop their own intuition.
