Noticing Asperger's

The way I realized my daughter had Asperger's -- Well, at the time, I actually didn't know it was Asperger's. I just knew something was going on. She had a very loud, shrill, shriek. She had meltdowns over strange things. Little things, like sensitivity issues. She choked on food very easily. You could just tell something, the way she was registering things in her world, something was really different. On top of that, I had a couple of teachers and people who were in her life, instructors from her gym, said that they noticed she did things a little differently from other kids or that she was more sensitive than other kids. When enough people, who you respect in her life, tell you that something seems worthy of being checked out, for me, it was worthy of being checked out. I took her to a developmental pediatrician and the diagnosis was Asperger's.
