With young teens, privacy is a really tricky issue, because in one hand we want to respect their privacy, earn their trust. On the other hand we now have technologies that were proven are dangerous. Texting, computers, and so forth. Children need to view these things as you would a gun. Say guns can save lives, they can take lives. Terrible things happen as a result of what happen to a Social Networking sites, and internet assassinations as we call them. So, when are you going to give one of these things to your child before you fire it up you say, "Sweetie, this is the way it's going to go, you must prove to me you are ready for this level of autonomy, which means I am going to be spying openly, I going to be taking the device, just checking the text, just checking the history where you have been and if it is wiped clean i'll take that as a default indicator that you have been doing things that you should not do. When I get assess that you are handling these well, I am going to start on pulling back on that intrusion, what it is an intrusion on your privacy, but I want to be sure you are safe. So, when I get that sense, I will not be doing that any longer. However, if something goes wrong, we'll be shutting down the device for a couple of months. You are really strong and you are smart we know you're going to figure it out you may just not be ready for this level of autonomy.
