The best advice I can give to keep kids and tweens sage when they go online is to teach your children there should be a parent in the room. So this applies to desktop and laptop computers. It's harder with cellphones when kids are walking around with mobile devices. But I like telling my kids that if I'm in the room or their dad's in the room, they can be online. The reason is simple; we're the best parental controls around. We're going to glance over and see what they're doing on the screen. We're able to check and see where they happen to wind up online. I love a good parental control. The problem is when my kids go to someone else's house I have no idea what parental controls are in place. So if they know the rule, that one of us needs to be in the room and we're not there, they're not online.
