Streamlining Your Life and Enjoying Your Family Time

Family Time

Your week is hectic. You own a small business and have a home and children to tend to. When you arrive home on Friday, you want to make the most of your family time together. Thankfully, there are ways to reduce your weekly workload and achieve your goal.

Outsourcing Work in Your Business

Your time is valuable. Fortunately, there are services you can outsource, allowing you to keep your focus on expansion and profit. Bookkeeping, payroll, and shipping packages are a few services that many companies like yours use daily. A fulfillment center frees up space and eliminates the need for a warehouse for products. Having a service handle the payroll and bookkeeping frees up hours that you can use to focus on marketing.

Get to Bed at a Reasonable Hour

Many moms tend to do household chores after they tuck their children into bed. However, this can make for many late nights. Unfortunately, not getting enough rest will leave you with more emotional stress. You won’t have your usual amount of energy and you’ll lack focus. Make it part of your to-do list to allow for 7 to 8 hours of sleep nightly.

It’s Ok to Say No

You are the type of person who cares about everyone else's needs ahead of your own. While it’s a wonderful trait, it will cause more harm than good. You can’t do everything and occasionally, when you have too much to handle, you will need to say no to a favor.

Early to Rise

Setting your alarm to rise even a half-hour earlier will allow you to complete tasks and have a smooth flow each morning. Instead of racing through the house trying to dress and feed children and then yourself, you will have the time to fit everything in with ease.

Delegate Duties

Many moms feel that, if they can’t do everything, they are a failure. Nothing is further from the truth. If you want to increase your family time, you need to delegate duties to include every member of the household. Your children can remove their plates from the table, pick up their toys, and put their dirty laundry in the hamper. You and your spouse can take turns doing the laundry, floors, and other household chores. If your children have after school activities, you and your spouse can also take turns with the drop-offs and pickups.

Organize Your Home

Unfortunately, a messy home leads to lost items and wasted time. Creating an efficient living environment makes life easier for everyone within the household. Closets and drawers often become casualties. Thankfully, achieving function and efficiency is easier than you think. Bring in canvas bins and storage crates to organize areas prone to clutter. Install a wall unit in the basement or garage to house off-season items. Racks are great for hanging towels, coats, and robes, and shelves can be used to display books, plants, and collectibles.

Meal Planning

After a long day at the office, coming home and figuring out what to make for dinner can cause stress. Instead, plan meals ahead. Use the weekend to bake casseroles, then get out the crockpot and put in your dinner prior to leaving for work. This way when you arrive home you can issue hugs and kisses and have time to set the table for a home-cooked meal.

Run Errands Once

To enjoy more of your downtime, you need to reduce the need for running errands. Make a list of what you need and make one trip. This will free up valuable time that you can spend enjoying time with your family.

You have many demands weekly that consume time. However, if you get your home in order, get up earlier, and eliminate doing every task on your own, you’ll have more time to spend doing things with loved ones.
