The biggest difference between organic versus non-organic food, in my opinion, is the amount of herbicides and pesticides that you will be ingesting. These chemicals will cross the placenta and make their way into the fetus. Some of them are neurotoxins and some of them are hormonal disrupters. Neurotoxins, obviously, will have an impact on the baby's neuro development. Some of them may lead to learning disabilities and behavioral problems in later days. Hormonal disrupters affect the baby's sexual development. Learn about the dirty dozen. Because of the way they are harvested and grown, contain a larger amount of herbicides and pesticides. If you shop organic for these 12 vegetables and fruits, you can cut up to 80 percent on these chemical herbicides and pesticides.
