Availability of contraception methods for teens

Giving birth control does not encourage sexual behavior. We believe that the individual is taking responsibility for their sexual or reproductive healthcare if they are using birth control. We see some very high statistics among teens, especially here in the Untied States, we see that every one out of three girls before the age of 20 does become pregnant. We also see statistics that are different amongst the teens, Latino teens or African-American teens, one out of every two of the Latinos and the African-American teens are becoming pregnant before the age of 20. It doesn't mean that they're not all engaging in intercourse at the same rate; it just means that they're not getting the services or protecting themselves or requiring the information that they need in order to be able to protect themselves better. If we see that an individual has, if a person carries a baby full term, what ends up happening is she has a probability of becoming pregnant a second time before she reaches age 21 if she does not obtain birth control. So it is important to discuss birth control with an individual even if they've already had one child before the ago of 20. We are one of the industrialized countries that has the highest incidents of pregnancy. It doesn't mean that the counterpart. let's say like in the Netherlands or Sweden, their teens are not engaging in sex; it's just that our teens are not getting the information as easily or as readily as the individuals in other countries.
