Dealing with a junk food addiction

Junk food is a tough one. Junk food is like one of the most addictive things on earth. I think a study just came out that said that it's as close to an addition as heroin is. So it's no joke. You've got 2 forms of junk food. You've got liquid junk food, like soda, and I would consider fruit juice and all those things as junk food. And another thing you have is like chips and anything in a package. I would concentrate on soda first and juice, because we tend to drink most of our calories, and not even realize it. So if you just gave up soda, just soda. If you gave up soda, you would be surprised by how much weight you would lose by just replacing it with water or bubble water or tea or coffee, or something like that. Just replace it. Try soda. Just try soda. It will be hard to kick, but that's like the ... that's the gateway to healthy living. You've got to kick soda. The second part is what we are eating. Well basically anything in a package is pretty much junk food. Everything is junk food. If you process food and you make it into like a powder and then you put it back together, there's no nutrients, no minerals, there's definitely nothing in it that is going to help your body out. So you do that little by little. I don't recommend you doing anything cold turkey. So when I quit drinking soda, what I did was I did bubble water, so I love my Pelegrinno and I love my Perrier, and I would pour a little splash of fruit juice in it just to give a little flavour. And I would drink that instead of drinking soda. And trust me - I was a 6 can of diet coke person a day. So, for me to kick that, it was not easy. But I gave myself a little bit of bubble. Now, for the food, do the food little by little. Don't do it overnight, because if you do it overnight you are one day not going to be perfect, through your hands up in the air and say 'I give up', 'I can't do this forever'. Well no, you can't do anything crazy forever. You want to do it little by little by little so that it's not quite as painful. You want to give you psyche the least amount of pain possible. And if you do those small tiny changes, your psyche can handle it. If you do crazy changes, you go nuts inside your head. And that's just literally what it feels like. You want to just burst out and do something bad, and then give up. So just do it slowly, gradually, little by little. And don't worry - you will get there eventually. It's a long road.
