I chose the midwife that I used for all three of my homebirths by asking first my Bradley instructor for a recommendation as well as other friends that took classes with me. I used the internet to search for other local midwives. In addition to looking at the qualifications and experience of a midwife, you will probably want to choose somebody local so that their commute is not too far. When I did finally narrow it down to two people, my husband and I interviewed them and we knew immediately that Marilu O´Brian was the one for us basically because of the rapport that we felt with her. My husband felt very comfortable with her as did I. And, it makes a big difference. Homebirth is very personal and you want to feel comfortable with the midwife that you choose.
