There are lots of parental controls that parents can use on both the PC and the Mac. Some of my favorites are PureSight PC and ScreenRetriever. They allow you to get real time information about what your kids are doing online. On the Mac, all of your parental controls are built right in, including something called a Weblog, which lets you see the entire history of where your kids have been browsing, even if they private browse or clear their history, you’re still going to know what it is that they’re doing. You just need to be the administrator of that computer. You have to remember though, with parental controls, we are just setting expectations for our kids and not keeping them safe online. They can always go to another computer at a friend’s house, at school, or even the public library and access things that we don’t want them to be seeing. So please, make sure if you’re installing parental controls, you let your kids know that you’re doing it and why so that they know what your expectations are of them.
