When your kids get home from school and they drop their shoes and their back pack at the door, it's a great opportunity for them to drop the technology off too. You can have a central charging station, a place where the minute they walk in the door, all technology will go to get charged for the afternoon. This gives your kids an opportunity to reset themselves. They can sit down, have a snack, talk to you about their day. And then, later in the evening, when it's time to reconnect with a friend, play a game, or even do their homework, they can ask you for the technology. This then gives you an opportunity to give them the technology rather than constantly trying to take it away. It also gives us as parents the opportunity to ask our kids what they're doing with the technology and how long they'll need it for. This will allow you as the parent to set the appropriate guidelines for what it is they need to do. They may need 30 minutes to research for a school project, or they may just need 10 minutes to check in with a friend. But now you know how much time they need it for.
