With divorce, new people enter your life and some, not by choice. If your ex-partner has a significant other, it is essential for you to befriend this person and to have them become your ally. Refuse to fall into the label of being the "crazy ex-wife" or the "crazy ex-husband." Count on them to become yet another person in your child's life that can love them when you're not present. There's enough love and the more people that love your child, the better. Be secure in your role as a mother or a father and know that you are not replaceable. If you feel that this person is not a good influence on your child's life, don't criticize that person. Discuss your concerns with your ex-husband or ex-wife and voice your opinion of having the best things done for your child. Also realize that sometimes you just don't have control. Trust in the way that you raised your child and the value system that you've instilled in him or her to know that, ultimately, your child will be fine.
