I chose to leave my office job and work from home because I like I didn't have the time to be the kind of mother that I wanted to be. When I worked in New York at a magazine, I was a magazine editor, my life was ruled by a clock. Everything was about: Would I be able to get my daughter to school on time? Will the Nanny show up on time? would I be able to get to work on time? Will I be able to leave work on time and get there before my daughters go to bed? Will I get dinner with my children tonight? I just hated showing up at 8:00 o'clock in time to kiss them goodnight and to know that another woman was raising them, basically. I decided that, I'm a writer, so long as I have WiFi and my Mac, I can write in a foxhole. What I can't do is be a mother to my child by sitting in this office. My husband and I made a very grown up decision seven years ago, to move down south, where the living is easier and cheaper and we could raise our children the way we wanted to. It's been a blessing to us. It really has been.
