Not everybody has time for the PTA. Not everybody can bake cookies and get the juice boxes together and spend 40 hours debating whether the juices should be clear juices or red. You can still make a difference at school. If you are a working mother, you can still put in work to make your school better. Get your child's teachers email address. Ask if they need crayons. Ask if they need school supplies. Ask if she would like you to contribute a snack for a special time or a special lesson they are working on. Find out if she needs copies and get her one of those kinko cards. Make sure that she has it so she doesn't have to pay for those copies out of her pocket. She doesn't have to worry about getting those copies done on her free time. There are so many ways that you can help a teacher without being there. It starts with having a good line of communication with her, to let her know that you are open and available to her, even if you can't be standing in the classroom.
