What would cause a student to fail out or quit college? There are a couple of reasons. One, they weren't prepared for college level work. No matter what their grades were in High School, they didn't to AP or college level courses, they are simply not prepared for the onslaught of homework they will receive in college. Number two is they don't go to class. This is, maybe the single biggest reason kid fail out, because they don't go to class. That's the easiest way to graduate, is to go to class. Number three is they haven't made friends on the campus. They are not anchored to the campus. They haven't joined clubs or study groups. Believe it or not, friends will keep you there. Number four is drugs and alcohol. They are 18 and they have this freedom from their parents that they've never had before. Many kids just misuse it. They experiment with drugs and alcohol, and sometimes, it gets out of hand. Using and drinking become more important than studying.
