Kim has been an educator for more than two decades. She started her career as an elementary school teacher in the independent school sector. After twelve years, Kim went into Elementary Administration and had the pleasure of working with teachers, assistants, students and parents. At that time, Kim and her husband gave birth to boy/girl twins, who are almost teenagers. In 2004, Kim co-founded Empowered Parenting, which continues to provide resources to parents today. Kim offers courses, workshops, and one on one coaching to parents, teachers, grandparents, healthcare workers, counselors, and anyone who relates to children. Kim is trained and certified through the International Network for Children and Families, as well as Positive Discipline. Empowered Parenting is a member of LA Parenting Specialists (LAPS). LAPS is a community of professionals committed to the positive raising, growth, and well being of children and families. They offer resources, education and unity consciousness to each other and the community at large. Kim travels worldwide to help parents learn additional parenting skills. Her work in training teachers to bring these skills into the classroom continues to be celebrated among the early childhood education community. Kim also teaches parents at the corporate level, tackling hot buttons for parents at companies such as Creative Artist Agency and Nike. Kim is active in supporting her local parenting community by providing monthly workshops at the community center. She is a frequent guest speaker at preschools and other parent education events. Kim thoroughly enjoys one on one coaching to parents and families. Being an effective parent is Kim’s passion in life. Her knowledge and experience coupled with her enthusiasm, humor, empathy and compassion, has helped thousands of people with their daily struggles with children. Kim is a weekly show host of parenting podcasts at Passport To Parenting: Helping Parents Navigate their Parenting Journey. She also can be found as a parenting expert on the website Kids In The House. Her goal for you is to help reduce conflict, foster mutual respect, and create deeper communication and connections with your loved ones.
