There's 2 types of parenting that actually contribute to narcissism. One is the parent who places very string conditions on the lovability of their child. That doesn't mean they don't love their child. There's probably explanations for why - part of their own history. The love is conditional. They have high expectations for the child. Sometimes it's living vicariously through that child. Sometimes it's wanting the better life. That wanting it so much that it actually forfeits the chance to allow the child to grow and develop on their own unique way. And just love them and cherish them for their little self. The other type is the parents who is always taking care of the needs of the child. Never allowing them to struggle through, to try things on their own to fail. To learn from their mistakes. As a parents, you can't bear to see the child in distress ever even when it would be helpful for them as a life lesson.
