Hi, my name is Brian Pinero. I'm from Loveisrespect, The National Dating Abuse Helpline located in Austin, Texas. I've been with the helpline for 5 years. I've been very fortunate to work with amazing young people, to do this work that affect so many people. I'm currently getting my masters at the University of Texas in social work and It's been able to help me to understand some of the cultures we deal with, that we hear on the lines, as well some of the communities and the - that exist in abusive relationships and how best to provide services.
I, myself, had been very fortunate to be in a healthy relationship for 4 years. I got a dog as well, I've got a dog and sometimes, that dog drives me crazy. Some of the other things I think about my life is I've done a lot of things in the services, working with child protection services but also with juvenile probation and HIV services. So it's kind of, I've come to this work mostly out of wanting to do good things for people but also just for the desire to do good public service. I'm very fortunate to work in the job and I am very happy to be here.
