Let me begin on the positive side. I think the positive side of having parents who have a lot of self-confidence is, children see that. They see parents that are not afraid to try things, and parents who are not worried, and parents who will be able to take risks. That's on the positive side. On the negative side, if you've got parents that are very self-confident, what often happens is they over power a child. They step in and protect this child, and they want to take over the decision making process for their child. The child then becomes unsure of his or her ability to think independently, and develops strong dependency needs. I think that would be both the positive, and the negative aspects of that.
