The question of family values being passed generationally, really relates to how you articulate those values. Many parents feel that the values that are important are just going to be picked up by osmosis. But I really believe that families that are concerned about important values, they talk about them. The articulate what the important values are and when they see those values being demonstrated, they will compliment them. For example, generosity. When a child is generous, if that is a value that is important in the family, every time you see a child doing an activity that demonstrates generosity, you comment on it. You compliment them. That's how we ingrain those values, so they get passed generationally.
